Everybody Needs a Laughing Place

A laughing place, to go "Ho, ho!"
Take that frown, turn it upside down,
And you'll find yours, I know, ho ho!

I found my laughing place last weekend. A last minute trip to Virginia Beach turned out to be the best medicine for this allergy-infused chemo girl. After being duly warned by nurses about staying out of the sun, I wrapped myself in long linen pants and shirt and a floppy straw beach hat, with SPF 85.

It was cold and gray, so we went to the Virginia Aquarium and hung out in Norfolk. We played a lot of games and stayed up way too late. And we laughed and laughed and laughed. I had tears streaming down my face. My emotions were so closely entwined and so close to the surface that they quickly interchanged. It was crazy, but it felt so good to get that out!

Tomorrow: an appointment with Dr. Feigert to determine when to start the next intense round of chemo. Part of me wants to just git 'er done, and the other part wants to wait a week just to get through these crazy allergies (post nasal drip makes me nauseous!), my roommate's wedding (yahoo Diedra!), a ward split (a complete overhaul of visiting teaching!), and lovely spring weather.

Jenny I don't know if you remember me. I was Angela Pace back in the 7th ward in Provo - Laurel is also my sister in law. I found your blog through Laurel who gifted us a photo session with Jordan Brough. My baby daughter recently had surgery on her hip and we've been through some hard times lately with her. So Laurel was so sweet to give us a photo shoot to take some pictures of our two little ones.
I'm also in Arlington now, my husband is in school in DC and I'm so happy to have found your blog. What an inspiration! I had no idea about your cancer and I cannot imagine what you must feel and deal with every day. Your posts are so hopeful though, and I will follow your blog, praying that you are blessed with strength to withstand whatever this life requires of you. You are amazing!

Nice! A trip to the beach! With good friends and good fun. Sounds perfect to me! Let us know what you decide about your next treatments. It is a bit of a dilemma. I think I would be tempted to take one more week to "gird up my loins, fresh courage take", but maybe the "get 'er done" approach makes more sense. Aren't I a lot of help!
Love you so and pray for you always!

A ward split? Ah...I need an update! So glad you could sneak away from reality and bask in the sun, at least for a minute! Love you.
